It is a modest rectangular structure with a gabled façade and a bell tower. It is notable for its 11<sup>th </sup>century fresco cycle depicting the flight of the Holy Family to Egypt. They were extracted from the ruins of the original church using the stacco a massello technique, which involves removal of both the fresco itself and the supporting masonry.<br /><br /><u>Further reading:</u><br />\nLopreato, P.
