Its name is derived from the Old Persian <i>taçara</i>. The palace’s gates are decorated with engravings depicting the Battle of Shahriar and Lion. It was unscathed during the incursions of Alexander the Great in the 4<sup>th</sup> century BCE when several other structures at Persepolis were damaged or destroyed.
